Layers
A short film showcasing our graduating students
One of the ways we help to develop our students’ acting careers is by working with them on short film projects. The films are produced by Fay Beck and Graham Jones through their film production company, Angry Bee Films. In 2017 the studio worked on two short film projects, Collectors Protocol and The Breakup, in which cast and crew comprised of Actors Door Studio students.
The film projects not only help promote the work of our graduating students but also provide them with opportunity to apply the advanced acting skills they have been learning throughout their training with us.
In 2018, we will be working on a third short film, Layers, which we hope to bring to fruition through a crowdfunding campaign the team will be launching soon.
The
Story
Layers is a short film about relationships. Essentially it is film about the power of relationships to restore meaning in our lives when things go wrong.
The story centres around Willow, a young woman who has been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). ALS is a degenerative neurological disorder for which there is currently no known cure.

Advancing the careers of our students
Our students train rigorously to be able to portray characters convincingly on screen and stage. Despite their talents, the film, TV and theatre industry are tough sectors to enter into, due to the great deal of competition. Without the support of their school, drama school graduates are left to their own resources to secure representation and to amass content to use for their showreels.
As a studio geared towards supporting our students throughout their careers, the films we produce with Angry Bee Films, serve the dual purpose of promoting the wonderful work our graduates beyond the showcase, and to provide them with high quality content to use in their showreels.
Becoming a member of the team
We value the support of our dedicated course students. If you are interested in being part of our projects and our ambitious collective, you need to be a current student of the Actors Door Student and training in the Core Training Program.
