London’s only acting school teaching the Beck Emotional Access Technique® — a neuroscience-informed method that builds truthful, consistent performance. All levels welcome. Spotlight-accredited courses, small groups, industry-professional coaches.
Beck Academy of Dramatic Art offers acting classes in London for complete beginners through to working professionals. We are a Spotlight-accredited independent drama school founded by Fay Beck — an award-winning writer, director, and producer who is also completing a researcher in Neuroscience.
Our acting classes are unlike any others in London because every class, course, and coaching session is grounded in the Beck Emotional Access Technique® (BEAT™) — the UK’s only registered neuroscience-based acting methodology. Where most acting training relies on interpretation and intuition, BEAT™ teaches actors how emotion originates in the body, how to access it safely and consistently, and how to build performances that are truthful every single time.
Whether you are stepping on stage for the first time or preparing for a professional audition, our classes will change how you act.

The Only School Teaching BEAT™
The Beck Emotional Access Technique® is a UK-registered acting methodology created by Fay Beck. It is grounded in contemporary neuroscience and is the only method of its kind taught anywhere in the UK. BEAT™ does not ask you to pretend, imagine, or force emotion. It teaches you how your emotional system actually works — and how to use it.
Beck Academy is one of a small number of independent drama schools in London with Spotlight accreditation — the industry’s gold standard. This means our qualifications are recognised across the UK acting industry, and our graduates are eligible for Spotlight membership through our courses.
Small Classes, Serious Training
We deliberately cap class sizes so that every actor gets real attention, real feedback, and real progress. This is not a performing arts centre. It is a serious training environment with a genuine commitment to developing professional-quality actors.
Coaches Who Are Industry Practitioners
You will not be trained by teachers. You will be coached by practitioners. Fay Beck is an award-winning writer, director, and producer completing a Masters in Neuroscience. Martina Avogadri is a working film script developer, film producer and working actress with credits on major international productions. Every class draws directly on their current, active industry experience.
A Pathway From Class to Career
From 2026, Beck Academy offers actor management services to bridge the gap between training and industry — giving our most advanced graduates and students direct access to professional opportunities. Our affiliated film production company, Aberrant Gene Films, provides ongoing professional film work so actors continue developing on set as well as in class.
What Our Students Say About BADA
Training at BADA has been some of the best years of my life. I graduated from the 2-year drama course and picked up so many skills along the way. The experience there has been nothing short of life-changing for me! Fay & Martina were brilliant in their delivery of the course and really pushed us to our limits. The course was very demanding and challenging but, as a result I was able to make so many breakthroughs e.g. crying on cue, staying present in a scene, ownership... I met some great friends along the way and am grateful to have shared this experience with my fellow graduates! If you are looking for somewhere that will be honest and genuine with you about your acting ability and will really help you target your weak areas. This is the place! I highly highly recommend!...not for the faint of heart. This place will push you!
I graduated from the 2-Year Drama Course and the experience changed my life. I learnt how to perfect my craft and was provided with all the tools to excel. The skills I have learnt have been vital as an actor new to the industry. Though not an easy journey, Fay and Martina's critiques and support enabled me to get the most out of each performance on screen and stage. Fay's industry knowledge is also extremely helpful in guiding you if you need to learn more about the industry. The course was such a positive experience and I look forward to working with Fay in the future. Highly recommend for those who are serious about their craft!
I have studied two courses at the Beck Academy, both have been better than I could have expected. In particular, the Meisner course was great. Fay is an amazing teacher and the overall experience is something that is hard to explain- you need to try it.
I took their earlier course in 2018, and the current one in 2024. Thank you beautiful teachers, and keep going.
I completed the 2 year drama course at BADA and the lessons I've learned are invaluable. Teachers Fay and Martina will push you to strive for excellence and teach the craft in powerful, engaging and challenging ways. Over the 2 years, I have not only transformed as a character actor but also as a person. With the tools I've been given, I feel ready to take on this tough industry! Highly recommend this place if you want to excel and have a passion for the art of acting and storytelling.

I’ve never acted before. Is Beck Academy right for me?
Absolutely. Many of our students arrive with no acting experience at all and go on to complete our longer programmes and enter the industry. Our short screen acting courses are the perfect starting point — focused, manageable, and taught by industry professionals who know exactly how to build a beginner’s confidence and technique from the ground up.
