Zero Tolerance Statement

Beck Academy of Dramatic Art operates a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe, disrespectful, or disruptive behaviour. A single serious breach of these House Rules — including violence, threats, harassment, discrimination, or deliberate endangerment of another person — will result in immediate removal from the premises and termination of your booking, without refund, at our sole discretion. These House Rules apply to Students on our acting Classes, Short Courses, Individual Study Modules, Two-Year Courses, Drop-in Classes, Workshops, and 1-1 Acting Coaching.

They do not apply to clients of our Personal Development Coaching service, or to attendees of a Business Workshop or Corporate Coaching engagement booked by a Corporate Client. Those relationships remain fully covered by our Customer Code of Conduct Policy, which already applies zero tolerance to every customer and every representative of a Corporate Client, and, for Corporate Client engagements, our Corporate Workshops & Coaching Terms.

1.1 Dress and Footwear

1.1.1 Wear comfortable clothing and flat, comfortable footwear suitable for movement work.

1.2 Lateness

1.2.1 Do not be late. If you are running late, message your teacher or coach immediately. We may refuse entry to a session that has already started, and no refund is due in that case.

1.3 Safety on Stage and in the Studio

1.3.1 You must not bring onto the premises, or use during a class, exercise, or workshop: poisons, noxious or dangerous chemicals, flammable materials, explosives, weapons of any kind (including knives and blades), power tools, naked flames, or candles.

1.3.2 If an exercise genuinely requires a prop that could otherwise breach Clause 1.3.1 (for example, a stage weapon), you must notify your teacher in advance and use only what they approve.

1.3.3 You must follow all safety instructions given by teaching staff. You are responsible for taking reasonable care of your own safety and the safety of others, and for not endangering yourself or fellow participants.

1.4 Conduct — Zero Tolerance

1.4.1 The following are not tolerated under any circumstances and will result in immediate removal, with no refund: violence or threats of violence; harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind; sexual harassment or unwanted conduct of a sexual nature; discrimination or derogatory conduct on the basis of a protected characteristic (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation); attending under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs; and deliberate damage to Academy property or endangerment of others.

1.4.2 Lower-level breaches (for example, repeated lateness, failure to follow reasonable staff instructions, or minor disruption) will usually receive a verbal or written warning first, but we reserve the right to remove a participant immediately, without warning, where we judge this necessary to protect the safety or wellbeing of others.

1.4.3 Where a breach also constitutes a criminal offence, we will refer the matter to the police.

1.4.4 You will be held financially responsible for any damage you cause to Academy property.

1.4.5 Our full Code of Conduct and Student Behaviour Policy set out further detail and the procedure we follow, including for group classes and Schools Workshops involving under-18s.

1.5 Restrictions on Attendance

1.5.1 Access to our classes, courses and workshops is provided in good faith that you are attending to train. We reserve the right to refuse or limit bookings that, in our reasonable judgment, are placed by a drama, acting, or personal development teacher, coach, or trainer — including Meisner Technique practitioners — who has not been invited by us.

1.5.2 We welcome Students who have trained elsewhere in the Meisner Technique; contact us before booking so we can recommend the most suitable class.

1.6 Under-18 Attendees

1.6.1 For 1-1 Acting Coaching with a Student under 18, a parent or guardian (or another responsible adult they nominate) must be contactable throughout the session, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.

1.6.2 For Schools Workshops, supervision and behavioural management of pupils remains the responsibility of the host school or organisation’s own staff at all times. We do not chaperone or act in loco parentis. Where we have a serious safety or conduct concern involving a pupil, we will raise it immediately with the supervising member of school staff.
