1-1 COURSE FOR LEADERS

Effective Communication and Presentation Skills: 1:1 Training for Leaders

One-to-one communication skills training for managers and senior leaders who communicate well in calm conditions, but lose clarity, structure or impact when the stakes rise. It starts with awareness of how you communicate, not a rulebook.

FORMAT

One-to-one, one-hour sessions

WHERE

Online, at your London workplace, or in Hackney Wick

COACH

Fay Beck, creator of BEATTM

APPROACH

Tailored to your role, pressures and goals

PROGRAMMES

From £1,450

Most communication training is top down.

You are told what to do, from a management perspective, because much of it comes from management training.

But communication is a behavioural event with physiological repercussions. It has to be changed there, not only understood.

How the Training Works

Communication training begins with awareness. You practise in situations that matter to you, get live feedback from Fay, and apply what you learn to your real work. The training has three steps.

STEP 1

Awareness

Become aware of your Emotional Instrument™. How we think and feel we present is often not what the audience perceives.

STEP 2

Alignment in the Emotional InstrumentTM

BEATTM Exercises to align external behavioural and vocal presentation with internal emotional experience.

STEP 3

Repetition

Build new ways of communicating through repetition, at three levels: structural, behavioural and emotional.

How a Course Runs

Assess and set the target

A one-hour consultation to map how you communicate under pressure and where it slips, and agree what changes. Fay then builds a bespoke programme shaped to your role and goals, with a rationale and outcomes for each session and an action plan for the sessions and beyond.

Practise under pressure

Exercises in session with feedback from Fay, plus a binder of personalised exercises for between sessions. Fay stays in personal email contact between sessions to track your progress and help with anything that gets in the way of applying the exercises.

Embed and sustain

Apply the tools to your real situations and leave with an action plan you can keep using.

What we work on: elocution and clear articulation; confident speaking and presenting; structure and impact in unscripted settings; voice, tone and pacing; professional interaction, from meetings to networking.

THE METHOD

Built on the BEATTM framework

Created by Fay Beck, BEATTM draws on neuroscience to change emotional states and behaviour through simple, intuitive tools that replace unhelpful habits.

The BEATTM tools you will use

BEATTM Scales: Mapping behaviour and emotion in real time

BEATTM Intentions: Mindful directing of Action and Emotion

BEATTM POV & Embodiment Development: Practical, advanced tools to build long lasting change

What you will be able to do

Notice what happens in you as you communicate, while it is happening

Use your voice with variety, pace and control, even under emotional load

Communicate in line with how you feel and what you intend

Adapt your style to the audience without losing authenticity

Structure your message and land it, including when it is unscripted

Build new ways of communicating that hold under pressure

WHO THIS IS FOR

Professionals who already understand the importance of communication skills, have attended workshops or courses but struggled to sustain the change, and work in high-stakes or high-visibility environments.

It suits you if you want reliable communication under pressure and are willing to engage consistently over time. If what you need is to shape the story you tell, rather than how you deliver it, see storytelling coaching.

This is not for you if you want

A one-off workshop, purely theoretical learning, group-based training, or quick motivational fixes.

Looking for a team version? See the Command the Room workshop.

Common Questions About our Communication Skills Training

Is this a presentation skills course?
Presentation is part of it. The focus is how you communicate, so what you build carries into presentations and everyday conversation
Yes. Elocution, clear articulation and voice are part of the work, because they drive how you are understood and remembered. The aim is to make them hold under pressure, not only in practice.
No. We work on clarity and impact, not on softening or changing how you sound.
Yes. The work is adapted to your role, the situations you face and how quickly your consistency stabilises.
Yes. Fay stays in personal email contact between sessions to track your progress and help if anything gets in the way of applying the exercises.
Most training is top down: it tells you what to do. This starts with awareness of how you communicate, then builds new ways of communicating through repetition, one to one.
You can use the tools straight away. Lasting change comes from consistent practice. Sessions work best close together: Foundation typically runs several weeks, Consolidation several months.
Online, in person at your central London workplace, or at our Hackney Wick studios. Travel within central London is included.

If the outcomes agreed in your bespoke programme haven’t stabilised by the end of the 15 sessions, we add up to 2 integration sessions at no extra cost, provided you have attended and completed the agreed tasks. This is reviewed in your final session.

Yes. Your employer can pay for any of the programmes.
