Why Online Coaching Works

Online coaching at BADA is not a compromise on in-person training — it is a genuinely effective format for the work. Technique, text, emotional access, audition preparation, and character development all transfer completely to a video session.

What online coaching offers that in-person cannot: the ability to work from wherever you are, in a space you are already comfortable in, on a schedule that fits around professional commitments. Martina’s international client base trains from across Europe, North America, and beyond. Fay’s online clients include working professionals who cannot commit to a fixed London schedule.

In-person coaching is also available for those who want to work in the studio with professional camera equipment — particularly useful for detailed screen acting and self-tape work.

What Happens in a Session

Every session is 60 minutes and tailored entirely to where you are right now — your current material, your immediate goals, and what your work needs most. There is no standard format. The coaching meets you.

Common Areas to work on include:

  • Audition preparation — self-tape coaching, in-person audition technique, making specific, bold choices under pressure
  • Screen acting — emotional economy, stillness, eye-lines, camera confidence, the interior life in close-up
  • Text work — script breakdown, actioning, subtext, objectives, in-depth analysis
  • Technique — Beck Emotional Access Technique® (BEAT™): accessing emotional truth safely, consistently, without force
  • Monologues — classical and contemporary; drama school and professional auditions
  • Character — psychological depth, behavioural truth, advanced character development
  • Emotional preparation — accessing emotional truth safely and repeatably
  • Confidence and creative ownership — overcoming performance anxiety, building self-trust in the work
  • Stage acting — presence, projection, physical grounding

Yes — the coaching itself is identical in quality whether online or in-person. Technique, emotional access, text work, audition preparation, and character development all transfer completely to a video session via Google Meet. In-person sessions at BADA’s Hackney Wick studio offer the additional benefit of professional camera equipment, which is particularly useful for detailed screen acting analysis and self-tape work. For most actors, online coaching is the more practical and equally effective choice.

Fay Beck is the creator of Beck Emotional Access Technique® and coaches from a director’s perspective — particularly suited to actors who want the deepest level of methodological work or who are developing complex characters. Martina Avogadri is a working film actress whose recent credits include Netflix’s Lift and The Diplomat Season 2 — she coaches from direct, current experience of professional sets. Both coaches are trained in BEAT™ and deliver rigorous, technique-grounded coaching. The choice often comes down to whether an actor needs a methodologist’s or a working professional’s perspective at this stage of their development.

Yes — online coaching sessions at BADA are open to actors at all levels. For beginners, private coaching provides a personalised introduction to technique and craft without the need to keep pace with a group class. The first session begins with an assessment of your current experience, goals, and what to focus on — so the work is relevant from the outset. Many clients begin with a single session to experience the coaching before committing to a development pack.

BEAT™ — Beck Emotional Access Technique® — is a registered UK acting methodology created by Fay Beck, grounded in contemporary neuroscience. It teaches actors how emotion originates in the body, how to access emotional truth safely and consistently, and how to generate truthful performance without force or strain. All coaching at BADA is informed by BEAT™ — whether you work with Fay Beck, who created the method, or Martina Avogadri, who is trained in it. This gives every session a methodological coherence that goes beyond session-by-session notes or feedback.

You do not need to prepare anything specific for a first session — the coach will begin with an assessment of your goals, current level, and what to work on. If you have a specific audition, role, or piece of material you want to focus on, bring it. If you are working with Fay on a development pack, she will curate material for you from the second session onwards — so you do not need to source your own scripts. Ensure you have a stable internet connection, a quiet space, and Google Meet installed on your device.
